Executive director, founder and president! Meet Nidhi the originator of YouCreate, a talented individual studying in biomedical sciences dedicated to finding strong, creative individuals and channeling their strengths through creativity; it’s like magic!

​

There are no lazy days in her calendar, on days to herself Nidhi spends her time on long hikes, practicing one of the many languages she’s learning, flowing through a dance or singing her heart out. In the midst of chaos Nidhi exceedingly desired to create something unique. Something that was less structured than the everyday fast pace of university life and would allow people to come out of their shells; to create a meaningful impact on individuals. To be able to discover themselves in the process of giving back to others.

It was a passion project, a work in progress, a destination dream all at once, and she made it sparkle into life.

“Hi that’s me. What do I do in my free time? Well I walk around, code, read, walk around some more and do a bunch of other things as well. What I absolutely love about YouCreate is that no one ever judges you, sure there’s friendly bantering and sarcastic remarks but it’s a place where I feel at ease and I genuinely want to give my all for. To work with the members of the exec team is a total delight, it’s epic to say the least and Nidhi is a wonderful person to work with!

Shekinah was a hard find, her journey towards our team first begins as a paint night attendee who just so happened to be hiding an assortment of skills under the façade of a humble painter. Through countless interactions with YouCreate and selflessly helping out the team throughout the year we caught a glimpse of her video editing skills along with her distinct passion for creativity and quickly grabbed a hold of her.

​

Her spare time flies by while making adorable crochet plushies, creating video edits of shows and movies that she actually enjoys watching and contributing to our vlogs and podcast editing along with the social media team. As a side director and graduate in Psychology she has quickly become an unforgettable member of the team.

​

Secret agent or not Shekinah is also a major English guru and secretly loves to write. Her writing stems from personal reflections and helping out with the YouCreate monthly newsletter.

I know, what else can she do? 😎

Anika fits into our team as a diverse individual keen on managing both our finances and marketing aspects of our team. Budgeting, event planning and finding solutions to keep integrating YouCreate into our community. She enjoys meeting new people and learning whatever, whenever she can, embracing diversity with open arms. She says “there’s so much about this world that I’ve yet to discover and learn about.”

If you didn’t know, Anika is an avid anime enthusiast and loves spending quality time with family and friends watching movies or just hanging out. Her favorite quote stems from the show Naruto, said by one of the most powerful shinobi in history, Madara Uchiha. Balancing financial and marketing management at YouCreate while pursuing an undergraduate in Biological Sciences she is a multi-talented individual always looking to elevate her university experience.

Harveen is a current Kinesiology undergraduate who is responsible for planning and managing our events and outreach. She will be closely working with members of our club and the community in order to reach information inside and outside of our current scope and plan future upcoming events.

She joined the YouCreate team to work closer with the indigenous populations, getting their voices heard while increasing her awareness as she grows with the team.

​

During spare hours, Harveen is a down to earth individual who will either chill down with a relaxing show on Netflix or be outside on a brisk walk. On more productive days, she will put on some music and, with the willpower and determination, will get straight to cleaning up her surroundings and tidy things up.

​

As an artist and business entrepreneur, Kashaf is our very own HR director working closely with the team by taking care of planning events, interviewing and hiring new exec members, and managing meeting details. As a Kinesiology student going into her third year, she fills up her spare time running her very own calligraphy business, peacefully painting her orders while also taking the time to catch up with friends and go out.

​

On the side of her entrepreneurial side hustles her dedication to playing badminton is undeniable, spending many hours on the courts you should definitely see her in action!

​

While furiously dedicated in growing her business and incorporating new ideas to her hustle, she's also a cat mom and loves spending time with her cat.

​

“I chose YouCreate as a means to bring change in the community through art such as painting, photography and more. Art for me is the most fun, engaging and relaxing part of my day and I hope to bring that to others as well!”

What’s a social media coordinator without sociallitise? Well, Shairah is  our  socialite.

​

Some might say she’s a trendsetter, a kind of social innovator. She’s the kind of person to get lost in passionate conversation with, a… ‘hype you up’ friend or that enthusiastic stranger you just ended up having an hour-long chat with. Speaking of which that's exactly how we found her!

Networking with talented people, members and supporters while always on the move working on her next big thing. Her personality strongly reflects the values of the YouCreate foundation, bringing with her, personal insights and valuable experience to the team.

​

As much as she loves to be surrounded by encouraging souls, Shairah also savors the subtle pleasantries that life brings. Visiting a quiet coffee shop to finish up self-initiated tasks, building inspiration for her digital art or spontaneously making plans with friends.

​

“My motto is inspired by a 6-year-old child that attempted to give a motivational statement; this can sound slightly accusatory to some. The quote being ‘Do something with your life’.”

As a skilled volunteer candidate Armaan has volunteered for multiple organizations at multiple events in the past such as tutoring, hospitals, University events, etc., having a thorough understanding of the concepts of leadership and volunteer management. This outlined the perfect opportunity for Armaan at YouCreate as our volunteer coordinator to further apply her leadership and sharpen her skills as she contributes to our team, helping the community thrive as well as YouCreate.

In pockets of spare time, Armaan flushes through Netflix and spends time hanging out with friends. Be it social events or long drives around the city she is either in or out enjoying her time.

​

“I enjoy helping others and learning new skills that can help me in becoming a better version of myself. Mainly, I enjoy volunteering at tutoring centers and the hospital in my free time because it allows me to get those new skills and meet new people. I also enjoy art and think it is a good way for people, including me, to express themselves without having to say it out loud.”

Rightfully so, Arushi is quite literally one to take the full one hundred percent of the shots. She is Arushi Shah, AKA Sushi Shaw, a risk taker and a carefree, eccentric adventurer! Her responsibilities lie in delegating tasks to the amazing coordinators and the completion of departmental tasks. “The creative content team is a major part of YouCreate and the source of all the creative projects related to the theme”

​

Arushi lives for the balance of the ups and downs in life, from skydiving off of cliffs to watching the sun kissed skies after a sunset on a solitary rooftop. She loves playing the harmonium, biking, trips with the homies, and times when she’s building strong relationships. Like when she’s driving through roads under starlit skies with the wind in her hair and music blasting through her veins. She’s her own comedian but with a sarcastic twist, a force to be reckoned with and contagiously entertaining.
