As the creative director, I had a pleasure volunteering close with amazing musicians and singers who performed at the Brentwood Senior Care Centre! It is a safe space for everyone, open to anyone, with no experience to experienced individuals, to have a platform to express their art in their way. I knew this one amazing singer who was very nervous to perform as it was her first time there; being able to see performers gaining confidence through this program and coming back to perform the next events is the reason we continue to host it. I still remember this one senior who cried from one of our amazing pianists’ performance. During the end of each event, we do ‘sing along’ and involve all the seniors in singing. These musicians connect the seniors to music, make them feel included, and create an amazing environment of peacefulness. Just being around the seniors for me myself is a great break to my hectic busy life. I am honored to be a part of this club, this program, and this senior community.
